The Partnering Agreement between the
Associated General Contractors of America (AGC)
and the National Association of Minority Contractors (NAMC)

This is a partnering agreement between the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) located at 333 Carlyle Street, Suite 200, Alexandria, VA 22314 and the National Association of Minority Contractors (NAMC) located at 666 11th Street, NW Suite 520, Washington, DC 20001.

Whereas, NAMC, representing members in 49 states, the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands, including general contractors, subcontractors, construction managers, manufacturers, suppliers, local minority contractor associations, state and local governmental organizations, attorneys, accountants, and other professionals, seeks to address construction industry concerns common to African Americans, Asians Americans, Hispanic Americans, Native Americans and other minority groups.

Whereas, AGC, which is the largest, most respected and most effective construction industry association in the United States, with 99 chapters representing more than 33,000 general contractor, specialty contractor, supplier and service members.

Whereas, AGC and NAMC recognize the importance of working together to promote construction markets, to improve the industry’s image, and to provide opportunities for all construction firms, and acknowledging that the two groups have much in common, the organizations agree to work together in the advancement of these mutual goals.

Therefore, AGC and NAMC have created this partnering agreement, which will be governed as follows:

  • The associations pledge to develop a meaningful dialogue to foster development of communications at the national and local levels.
  • Each association shall promote, among its respective associations, the use of mentor-protégé programs in order to better the construction industry by empowering minority owned firms with access to business services and other programs designed to increase competitiveness.
  • AGC and NAMC shall work together to draft and comment on prospective legislative and regulatory issues of mutual interest that impact the construction industry.
  • The association shall collaborate on industry issues that improve the business climate for all contractors.
  • AGC and NAMC agree to pursue initiatives that improve the industry’s image among those entering the workforce toward a goal of enhancing efforts to recruit the future construction management and workforce
  • The associations shall collaborate in the creation, development and implementation of educational programs that benefit management and craft personnel.
  • In the event of policy disagreements or differences between AGC and NAMC, the association pledge to discuss them in an honest respectful manner.
